Chiro Cares

Much of the ethos of Chiropractic is grounded in care. And giving back to the community has become a natural and important component for us at Chirokids, moms and more.

We are passionate about our work and are equally as passionate about our patients, and the communities in which we operate.

ChiroCares provides us with an opportunity to leverage the care we have for our patients and communities by supporting a number of initiatives close to our heart. These include, but are not limited to:

Rare Diseases South Africa
Rainbows and Smiles
Cycling Beyond Boundaries

Rare Diseases South Africa

Dr Jacqui Bunge has been a rare disease activist for years. As an avid athlete, she has leveraged her passion for sport to raise awareness for those suffering from rare diseases.

Previously Dr Jacqui has run her Comrades Marathons in honour of a little boy name Juan Du Plessis, who was diagnosed with a Glycogen Storage Disease – a neuromuscular condition which affects every muscle in the body. The diagnosis related to his condition was that Juan was likely to never walk and, when he did, his paediatrician cried. The hard work and dedication of the Du Plessis family paid off and despite often being sick, Juan is still able to do many things that he was never expected to.

Along with the support provided to Juan, the team at ChiroKids have worked tirelessly to drive awareness around rare diseases in South Africa and drive greater medical aid acceptance for such diseases.

Rainbows and Smiles

Rainbows and Smiles strive to create hope, smiles and relief for families and caregivers of children with cancer.  Rainbows and Smiles is a Public Benefit Organisation in terms of section 30 of the Income Tax Act, and are proudly B-BBEE level 1 contributors and will add to your B-BBEE scorecard.

The care of children and babies is front and centre of a lot of what we do at Chirokids. Our support for this charity therefore speaks to itself, as their support for children diagnosed with cancer aligns to our passion of caring for children of all ages.

Cycling Beyond Boundaries

Cycling Beyond Boundaries is an NPO founded by Chirokids owner Dr Jacqui Bunge. Her aim, through this charity is to inspire kids to find their purpose and to blossom, despite the exclusion they may face as children with cerebral palsy and other rare diseases. Therapy alone isn’t enough to help our kids move and find their space in this world and Cycling Beyond Boundaries seeks to raise awareness and funds leveraging Dr Jacqui’s love for endurance sport and her mobility.

Probono Work

Access to medical care remains a privilege in South Africa and the team at Chirokids remain mindful that Chiropractic care isn’t accessible to everyone as a result. Because of this, the Chirokids team remain committed to taking on probono cases where they are able to, ensuring that children that would ordinarily not have access to their expertise are provided with the Chiropractic care they require in order to thrive. And while Chiropractic care no doubt assists children with special needs in coping better with the challenges they face, sometimes additional equipment is needed. This is the current situation for a special little child under Chirokids care currently. As a result, the team at Chirokids are working hard to leverage their network and their love for sport to raise funds for a wheelchair that will go a long way in making their current probono patient’s life a lot easier.
